Saturn is the sixth planet from the Sun and it is well known for its fabulous ring system. The astronomer Galileo Galilei reported their existence in 1610.
Saturn is the most distant planet that can be seen with naked eyes.

Imaging Saturn is possible with a relatively modest telescope. It will reach opposition on May 22nd 2015.
This is my first capture of Saturn in 2015 (May 17th at 11h54 pm, in Montreal, Canada).
It was just slightly above houses. I used a Sky-Watcher 8-inch Newtonian telescope in our backyard (Montréal).
My DBK21AU618.AS camera was used with aTelevue Barlow 4X and a Baader UV/IR-cut filter at 60fps.
I stacked 60% of a 4859-frames AVI file with AutoStakkert2! and wavelet filtering was performed with RegiStax.
