                      The California Nebula (NGC1499)

Here is the California Nebula (NGC1499) in Perseus.  It's an emission nebula in the Orion arm of our galaxy, somewhere
between 1,000 and 1,500 light years away.  The nearby, very energetic star Xi Perseus provides the energy to create this view.
It gets its name from its resemblance to the shape of the state of California.

The Ha data for this was taken in December 2014.  I captured the RGB data over the past two nights.
The final, total integration time is about 20 hours.
